How can I link to library resources in websites or documents?

Answer

If you need to link to library resources from documents or websites (like a Canvas course, syllabus, or website), permalinks and OpenAthens links are the best tools. Using these will ensure you comply with copyright laws. Use permalinks to link to a resource found in the library’s online catalog. If you’re linking to a resource NOT available in the library’s online catalog, use OpenAthens. Find step-by-step instructions to create permalinks and OpenAthens links (complete with screenshots) on our Linking to Library Resources guide.

If you need to attach a PDF to a citation manager, like EndNote, you’ll need to configure the citation manager tool with the library’s OpenURL. Find instructions on our citation management library guide to configure those settings for EndNote 20 and EndNote X9.
